Firecracker 5K family affair

This past weekend we were blessed to have Jason’s parents visit us.  When they arrived on Thursday evening, we began planning our 4th of July schedule.  We had been planning to run in a great local 5K that we discovered last year in Pensacola, FL.   We told them that the race was a 5K run, walk, and wheelchair event.  We suggested that they may want to walk it.  They actually liked that idea, so I called my parents, because I didn’t think that they would want to be out-done.  Amazingly, my parents liked the idea too!  Mom had already promised to pull corn at 5:30am so I didn’t think they would actually get there before the race started, but they did!  Here we are before the race.

This picture is of our Dads coming into the finish line chute.  You can see their results here.

This picture is our moms after they finished.  They surprised us and finished before we thought they would so we actually missed them crossing the finish line. You can see their results here.

This is all of us after we finished!  We all finished in under an hour.  You can check Jason and my official results here.

All of the proceeds from the Firecracker 5K support the Ronald McDonald House.  What can be greater . . . running in beautiful downtown Pensacola with lots of great pre and post race food and drink and tax deductible race fees . . . and FAMILY!!!

Thanks Mom(s) and Dad(s)
