The things that drive us . . .
Ever since we moved into our house I wanted to change the bedroom and bathroom, but I haven’t done so because of several reasons . . . our bedding matched the decor of the room already . . . our bedding hadn’t had it’s 5th birthday yet . . . I didn’t want to strip the wallpaper off the bathroom walls . . . too much money . . . I/we couldn’t decide what bedding/color scheme we wanted . . . too much money . . . too much time . . . too much money . . . too much time . . .
We finally agreed on bedding and after about 25 paint samples (literally) we decided on a color for our room. I knew it was going to be a big project, because all of the trim needed to be painted too. We still aren’t done with the trim in the bedroom and we haven’t even started the “shower/toilet” bathroom so you will have to wait to see those pictures.

This is the closest I can come to a before picture of the vanity. This one is in our other bathroom. It is just like the one we painted. I scratched the gold off the handles to give it a “brushed nickel” look for FREE!
This is the paper that was in the bathroom. It is still in the “shower/toilet” room . . . but not for long!

This is what we were doing in the 5 o’clock hour this morning (Jason is wet with sweat from his 5 miler)
I worked ALL day on Saturday on just this little room in the bathroom because of all of the trim. I decided to paint it with flat black paint and the go back with gloss paint of the same color and create stripes to add dimension. I didn’t get the stripes done on Saturday so I decided to tape up the walls last night. It took me three hours. At 9 pm I finished taping only to discover that my tape was coming off the walls!!! I did NOT spend all evening taping stripes to have all of the tape come off the walls! I went to Walmart at 9:30pm to get the paint I needed and started painting at 10pm. Jason was sleeping because he planned to get up at 5 am and run. I finished the stripes at 11pm and went to bed. I was determined to get it done!!!

I also spray painted the light and the towel rack to get rid of the gold and replace it with a more updated “brushed nickel” on a budget. (You can’t really tell it on these pictures, but it does look a lot better.)
The finished product
A sneak peak of the bedroom . . .

We still haven’t decided what to do with the “shower/toilet” part of the bathroom . . . any suggestions?

Very nice guys. Love the stripes. You could paint the little bathroom the same color or shade as your bedroom and then accent with black and white to match your pillow I see in the corner of your picture. I don’t know…..maybe that’s too matchy-matchy. Whatever you come up with, I know you will love the refreshing change.
Love the stripes in the vanity area !! Looks really good
Lisa! The stripes are so cool. And black–wow. I love it! You remind me of me, staying up really late to finish something while another member of the household goes to bed.
Very pretty.
Maybe you could use your red accents somehow in the little bathroom?
